The first day of school is a wonderful occasion as your child embarks on a new journey. But, if your child was recently diagnosed with a food allergy and they are starting school for the first time, it’s especially challenging when parents have limited control over what their child will face in terms of exposure to harmful or even life threatening allergens such as peanut, tree nut, and dairy or wheat allergies. Even veteran parents need to prepare and make sure they re-educate their child and teacher. With food allergies being so prevalent among children its especially helpful for a parent with a child starting school for the first time to meet with the teachers, nurse and school administrators to see if a generic food allergy management plan is in place. Here are some helpful tips that you can discuss during orientation.

My name is Tracy Brace and I am the owner of The Goddard School® located in Fanwood, NJ! I decided to open this school because of many changes going on in my life. I was looking for a career change from the fast pace and long hours of Wall Street, dealing with the challenges of having a new family, and trying to find high quality child care for my own children. I decided to solve all my problems at once by opening a School that met my own quality standards for cleanliness, curriculum and communication with parents, and partnered with The Goddard School franchise to accomplish this. Little did I know it would take almost five years before I was finally able to open my custom built school in Fanwood! I currently have three children: one currently attending Goddard, one who recently graduated from Goddard, and my oldest, that I built the school for but was too old to attend by the time we opened!

It is so rewarding to have my work be something that makes a difference in the daily lives of our children and their families. Not only do we get to enrich their daily lives, but we also hope to make a long term impact by making sure that our children are appropriately stimulated during these crucial early years of growth.
